Do you want to download music from Youtube to your iPhone for listening offline? If yes, then you are in the right place. Recently, my friend just asked me how to convert Youtube videos to music files and then save them to iPhone directly. I also recognize that many people out there are also looking for a solution for this issue.
That’s why I decided to write this post. Today I will provide you with two effective ways to convert Youtube to MP3 for iPhone. You can do it right on your device or by using your computer. Read on to see which method will suit you best.
1. How to Download Youtube music to iPhone
First off, you’ll need to install an app called Documents. Documents is a free app on the App Store, and it will provide you the ability to save files on your iPhone. I’ve mentioned this app a lot in previous articles as its built-in web browser is really helpful in many cases. Now install it and then follow the instructions below to download music from Youtube to your iPhone.
Step 1: Launch the Youtube app, find the video you want to save music/audio from, and copy its link. (Tap on the Share button below the video and select Copy link)
Step 2: Launch the Documents app, and switch to the built-in web browser by tapping the icon located on the bottom that looks similar to Safari.
Step 3: Go to http://convert2mp3.net/en/. It’s the Youtube-to-Mp3 converter site that lets you download mp3 files from Youtube video links. Just paste the video link you’ve copied before, then tap on the “Convert” button. It will then convert and generate the download link for you.
Step 4: Once the download link has been generated, tap Download. You will be able to save the mp3 to your iPhone, not to the stock Music app but to local storage of the Documents app. After the mp3 file is downloaded successfully, you can find it in the Downloads folder and play it using Documents’ music player.
If you want to create a custom ringtone from the downloaded audio, then try using GarageBand. Since iOS 11, GarageBand can import audio files from other apps so you can import your music file to it and make a custom ringtone on your own, without using iTunes.
You can also try another website that is https://www.onlinevideoconverter.com/mp3-converter. Both sites work the same way. Since the browser can save any files from the Web, you can also use it to download Youtube video to your iPhone using the similar method.
Tip 1: If the Youtube-to-Mp3 converter websites I gave you above do not work for some reason, just go to Google and search for “youtube to mp3”, you will find many other helper websites that offer audio download tools.
Tip 2: Tap the star icon on the address bar to add it to bookmarks. Each time you want to download music from Youtube to your iPhone, just launch the app and go to this bookmark. It’s a lot more convenient.
This is one of the ways you can manage to put music on your iPhone without using iTunes.
Love listening to music on your iPhone? Try Spotify++, it’s a tweaked app of Spotify for iOS users, which allows users to enjoy free unlimited music.
2. How to convert Youtube to MP3 using your computer
If you happen to have a computer around, then there is a software that allows you to download music from Youtube to your iPhone with just a couple of clicks. You don’t have to download mp3 files to your PC and fool around with iTunes to sync them to your iPhone. Using this software is very straightforward and you’ll have all your favorite songs saved in the Music app directly.
It’s Youtube Converter 2 by Softorino. The software is compatible with both Windows and Mac. You can grab it now by clicking on the green button below.Download Softorino Youtube Converter 2
Once you’ve installed it, connect your iPhone to your PC via a USB cable and launch the software. Now it requires a few more clicks. Switch to ‘Audio’, then choose MP3 or AAC or ORIGINAL. Under Save to section, select your device. Finally, click ‘Convert & Transfer’ button and YC2 will take care of the rest. Once done, you can find your music in the Music app on your iPhone.

If you don’t want to pay for paid software like Youtube Converter 2, I’ll show you some extensions/add-ons to install on your web browser so each time you want to download mp3 files from Youtube videos, you won’t have to put in much effort. Once you’ve downloaded these files, you can sync them to your iPhone using iTunes or cloud storage services.
Google owns Chrome and YouTube, and the legality of an extension that enables a user to rip the audio off videos is questionable at best. You’re most likely not going to find one on the Play Store.
Some website offers these extensions in packed files and you can install them in developer mode on Chrome. But I recommend you not to do this as using these packages are not surely safe. They may contain suspicious files that can invade your device and your privacy without you realizing it.
The best solution is to go to the website that offers audio download tool. Do a quick search for “Youtube to mp3” on Google and you will find tons of them.
If you’re using Firefox, then the good news is you can install the add-on named Simple YouTube MP3 Button. After this add-on is installed, it will take care of the rest.
Click here to download [Only with Firefox]
As you can see, the add-on adds a Download MP3 button next to the Subscribe button, making it much easier to download audio files.
