Facebook just reached 2 billion users this month. If you’re an active user on this social network, then you must have been using the Facebook app a lot. Have you ever find it boring? I’m not satisfied with the official app, so I decided to try a new modified version named Facebook++.
As the name suggests, this version packs a host of features and enhances your experience in using Facebook on smartphones or tablets. You can download videos from your News Feed just by one click, set a passcode to access the app, In-app Messenger and much more features I will cover later in this post.
If you’re curious and want to give it a try, then here’s how to download and install Facebook++ on iOS without jailbreak and computer. You don’t need to remove the original Facebook app from your iPhone. [no_toc]
How to download Facebook++ for iOS
Step 1: Launch Safari on your iPhone, then click on this link
Step 2: When prompted, choose Install to confirm. You have to wait for a few seconds while installing the app. Once done, you’ll see the Facebook++ app on the home screen. Its icon is the same as the original one, but named Facebook++.
Step 3: If you launch the app now, you’ll get the Untrusted Developer message and the app cannot be used. To fix it, navigate to Settings > General > Profile & Device Management. On some iOS versions, this option might be available at General > Profile(s) & Device Management or General >Device Management. Locate the profile that belongs to the Facebook++ installation. Tap on it and tap Trust and then Trust again.
Now you can enjoy Facebook++ with a dozen of new features[alert-announce]If the link above doesn’t work, you can try the sideload method, but it requires using a computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux. Just read this article and you’ll know everything you need to do. Download Facebook++ IPA file here[/alert-announce]
The most favorite feature of this modified version is download videos. Now this app will add a small transparent download button in the right bottom corner of the video. Just click on it, you’ll be able to save videos to your Camera Roll. If you don’t turn on automatically save to Camera Roll, you’ll have to manually save videos in the Download folder.
If you don’t find the Video Download Button annoying, you can hide it in the Settings section. And each time you want to download a video, tap on the down arrow of the post to reveal download option.
Use In App Messenger: As I have experienced, it’s the mobile web-based version rather than the old in-app Messenger. But it’s still useful as you don’t need to switching over and over between two apps anymore.
Set Passcode: Enable a password and/or Touch ID to access the Facebook app.
Main Feed Type: You can choose to view the most recent posts in your timeline rather than the popular ones.
- Hide Facebook App Tab Labels: Hides just the labels for the navigation tab at the bottom of Facebook
- Autoplay: Allows to enable, disable or on ‘enable with Wi-Fi connection’ video autoplay in your newsfeed.
- Inline Video Playback: When clicking to activate a video playback, the video doesn’t take over the whole screen, it plays inside its original window.
- Sidebar Navigator: Enables the old sidebar navigation
- Confirm Like: Show confirmation alert when tapping on like button. This is very helpful if you have a girlfriend 😉
I just showed you how to download and install Facebook++, which is a super-tweaked version for the original Facebook apps. If you have any question, drop it below in the comment section. I’ll try my best to answer.
