You just bought a second-hand iPhone from someone and want to check its charge cycles and the exact remaining capacity?
You have used your iPhone for a long time and now you want to check the battery health to know if it’s time to get the old battery replaced?
Either way, this article will help you! Today, I’m going to show you 4 methods to check accurately how well your iPhone’s battery can perform. Let’s get started!
Don’t use third-party apps!
One thing you should know before we start is that since iOS 10, Apple has disabled all the functions related to iOS devices’ battery data for developers.
That means you now cannot find any apps that work properly for this purpose on the App Store. So you shouldn’t waste your time searching and testing third-party apps. Keep reading, this article will tell you exactly what you need to do.
iOS now lets you know if your battery needs to be serviced in the Settings app
Since iOS 10.2.1 or later, if you are noticing degraded performances of the battery, you can go directly to Settings > Battery on your device to check if it’s time to replace the battery. In that case, it’ll inform you that “Your iPhone battery may need to be serviced.”, like in the image below.
If you don’t see anything, it means there is nothing wrong with your battery.
Get in touch with Apple’s online Support
This is the easiest way to check your iPhone battery’s performance. Just contact Apple and let them run a diagnostic test remotely on your device. Once done, they’ll let you know what is going with your battery if you’re having issues.
When a technician connects with you, inform him or her you want to know the status of your battery health. They’ll tell you to give them your iPhone’s serial number and iOS version and then walk you through the process.
The technician will then approve your requisition for a diagnostic test, which you’ll have to send earlier in the Settings app. Once the process is done, they’ll send the report to you giving a clear picture of the battery status.
However, Apple wouldn’t provide you with specific metrics. They’ll advise you to replace your battery if it has issues. Otherwise, they’ll report that your battery passed the test and it’s good to go. If you want to get straightforward metrics of your iPhone’s battery health status, check out other methods below
